Studying and elections

Today is good day to walk.

How much you are going to study is reversely proportional to the square of the number of things that are messy on your office/life (given that you want to study).

When someone is elected (mayor, prime minister, whatever) usually is happy. I wonder why. Is this not an implied statement that democracy does not work correctly? The driving force of politics should be dialogue. If someone is better than someone else, that means that correct arguments alone are not enough to form a correct policy.
